The river Eden is an 80 mile long river in Cumbria and has been designated as a special area of conservation. It flows from high moorland hills in the south through to the sands of the Solway Firth in the north-west, close to Scotland.
This blog explores the river and some of its wildlife, from source to sea, through a series of walks.
“The face of the river, in time, became a wonderful book… which told its mind to me without reserve, delivering its most cherished secrets as clearly as if it had uttered them with a voice. And it was not a book to be read once and thrown aside, for it had a new story to tell every day.”
