This walk followed a path upstream for several km on the Lazonby side of the Eden through farmland with lots of sheep.
Wildlife I came across included: woodpecker knocking (and lots of signs of their holes in rotton trees) grey wagtail, pied wagtail, coal tit, chaffinch, tree creeper, 2 crows, molehills, 3 pheasants, 2 terns, 2 woodpigeons, 7 gooseanders, 2 canada geese, 8 greylag geese, 14 ducks, 8 oystercatchers, 5 sparrows and about 100 pigeons.
Laceys Caves (another interesting place, which I didn’t get to visit on this occasion) are on the other side of the river, a bit further upstream.
